Scans

And now, for the moment you've been waiting for... the scans! Although many are unavailable at this point, we are always striving to add more. Please click on the cover pictures to reveal the panel scans.

King of the Klondike

King of the Klondike was not only the eighth episode of his "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" masterpiece, it was also the first of Don's stories to have a One and Three part version. Interestingly, with the exception of the text boxes in the European versions, The art for the three and single part versions is exactly the same, unlike all the other multi-part stories!

Single Part Scans:
The Empire-Builder From Calisota

The Empire-Builder From Calisota was the first real single and multi-part story. That's right, the art for the two versions is completely different!

Special Note: The text in the single part scans for this story is in fact Don's original text. We would show you the original American scans, but unfortunately Tristan's scanner broke!

Multi-Part Scans:
| Part 2 | Part 3 |
Single Part Scans:
The Treasury of Croesus

This third iteration of multiple versions is a bit odd because the one part version never appeared in America, instead Americans got the three part, unlike usual. After examining the scans that follow, it may become obvious why Gladstone's editors printed the three part version. The army in the splash panel in the beginning of Part III looks much more daunting than its European counterpart, given only a wide panel. Like "King of the Klondike", part II of the 3 part version has the same art as the splash panel of the single part version, so we only posted one.

The Once and Future Duck

In "Once and Future Duck" Donald and the boys go on yet another time traversing adventure, this time to the time of King Arthur!

Special Note: The thumbnail used here is NOT a cover. Because we were unable to find a cover picture related to this story, we croped the picture of Donald from the splash panel in Part II of the three part version. So, don't spend to much time trying to figure out where this cool cover came from. :-)

Single Part Scans:
Hearts of the Yukon

Although not officially part of "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck", this story was published right after the 12+ part mini-series ended (for the first time). In this story Don's humor really shines, making it Tristan's favorite Don Rosa work. With a great story like this to kick of the Walt Disney Giant series, one wonders why it never made it through a years publication. Enough mindless banter, you want... the scans, right?

The Vigilante of Pizen Bluff

Does Don Rosa like telling about Scrooges history or what? Thats right, "The Vigilante of Pizen Bluff" is actually "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" Part 6 and a half! The interesting thing about these scans, is the fact that most of the time, some very funny jokes are lost in the transion to a three parter, because of a lack of space due to those huge, beautiful splash panels (See , "The Treasury of Croesus") but here we see a good joke in the three part version! Look at the splash panel on part III to see it.

Attack of the Hideous Space Varmits

Another of Don Rosa's one and three part masterpieces is "Attack of the Hideous Space Varmits". The single part version was recently published in Germany. Unfortunately, the art didnt change much, although the close up of scrooge does add to the effect of the splash pannel!

Another Special Note: Again, no cover exists (yet) for this story, so the thumbnail is cropped from a splash panel.

The Black Knight

In this story, Scrooge and Donald encounter none other than, The Black Knight! Maybe something is lost in the re-translation, but looking the at the pair of scans we show here, the extra seems to appear in the one part version that wasn't in the 3-part splash panel, yet the splash panel seems to do a better job a explaing the situation. For those curious about why we only have two scans, starting with "The Black Knight", Don Rosa is drawing One and Two Part versions, rather than one and three parters.

The Cowboy Captain of the Cutty Sark

Don's Latest story, "The Cowboy Captain of the Cutty Sark" is another iteration in the "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" mini-series. The most important fact about this story, is that as of yet it will be the last of Don's stories to be published in English, as at present Disney Comics are no longer published in America. Though this may be, we still expect to see diffrent versions of Rosa's work appearing in the rest of the world. For us in America: Lets keep our fingers crossed, and start learning Danish or German!
