hen Carl Barks worked for Disney Comics in the 50's and 60's, he rarely drew more than one version of each of his stories, although there are exceptions to this, such as "Land Beneath the Ground" and "Back to the Klondike". Most of these separate versions were forced upon Barks when editors called for shorter stories. As a result, the longer versions have only seen print in recent years, thanks to albums such as Uncle Scrooge, his Life and Times and great publishing companies, like Gladstone.

Although most passing Disney Comics fans, wherever they live, be it America, Italy, Scandinavia, Finland, Russia or elsewhere, are unaware that many stories written by Don Rosa (whom many claim to be Barks rightful successor) are seen in two different formats. Readers of Gladstone comics and more recently Gemstone comics, will usually read a Don Rosa story from cover to cover in a single issue, while fans in Europe may read the same story in two or three separate parts, in multiple issues!

This may seem irrelevant, but fans who buy both their local comics and read comics from overseas know that this is not the case. Because a story would be quite difficult to follow if ended abruptly on one page and started equally abruptly a week later, Don Rosa was asked by the European publishers to create new art and text for each multi-parter to help re-iterate what happened in the previous issue. What does this mean to you, the Don Rosa Fan? New art! If you typically read American comics you are missing the great splash panels that accompany each story continuation. If you live in Europe, you are probably missing the original intended flow of the story.

The purpose of this web-page is to share the art that Don Rosa drew for each side of the world with those that might otherwise miss it. Scans are provided of the changed or extra pages in the Don Rosa stories that have both a multi-part and a single-part version. Most non-English texts have been translated into English, so that everyone can follow everything.
